Beautiful ambigrams and logotypes by John Langdon: “In the graphic arts, perfect symmetry is usually considered static, and thus less interesting than an almost perfect symmetry. Even if subtle, the departures from the regularity are said to invigorate the design as a whole.” Sun Microsystem’s logotype contains an ambigram. Incidentally, have you ever seen the white arrow inside the FedEx logo? After discovering it, one can see it even in unstyled, sans-serif text: FedEx. Empty space in graphic design is much like silence in music.
