Macworld Expo 2006

The expo was a mixed experience. A few interesting products floating in a sea of mediocrity and bad marketing. Best of the show for me:
  1. Becoming a member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation after finding their small booth at the back and donating $25.
  2. Volunteering to work with the Bay Area Alternative Press.
  3. Meeting Guy Kawasaki at the Filmloop booth.
  4. The new laptop with an unfortunate name. The little cameras being embedded everywhere are cool, if a bit unsettling.
  5. iWeb, which actually seems to produce valid XHTML code (I checked briefly).
  6. Meeting part of the Delicious Monster crew, including those who work in the coffee shop where the company works out of.
  7. Comic Life and Wingnuts 2.

I’m on my way to Macworld Expo, San Francisco and will write about what I see later tonight. Meanwhile, John Gruber’s predictions.

Tomorrow Macworld Expo begins here in San Francisco. New Intel-based iBooks and Mac minis perhaps? Mike Evangelist on Steve Jobs’ keynote speeches.
