- The Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco was a disappointment. Plastic-faced executives with fake smiles and automatic hands; only a few bursts of original music, dance and colour struggling to emerge amid the corporate slogans and bank logos. A city with a reputation for a multi-cultural, tolerant society decides instead to commiserate with censorship and discrimination.
