The AI generation is at it again with text prompts that generate spectrograms that can be converted to audio clips.

- HyperTextHero Holiday Break December 2022 ✶
-
Alright, I’m off until January 2023, with the usual possibility of doing a stream or two before then!
Mom’s place has a good internet connection now, so chances of doing a broadcast from there are better, and the giveaway I didn’t get to this past Saturday should happen before the end of the year.
A regular schedule with days dedicated to MSFS, DCS, IL-2, roguelikes, melee fighters, shooty-shooters, and other video game goodnesses will be activated in January!
In the meantime, I want to thank you for your support this past year, and to wish you very happy holidays and a wonderful new spin around the sun in 2023!

A cross-platform DOS emulator with a GUI drop-down menu to save you from typing commands, among other features.

- Spatial Sound Card L ✶
-
Surround sound without extra hardware.
I’m curious about trying this, and being software, wonder how much it affects PC and Mac performance. I played Thief with a Sound Blaster sound card years ago, and remember the positional audio above all. It was breathtaking.
- Every Pixel Is Simulator ✶
-
Er, simulated, in Noita.

- Bonk! ✶
-
Schippah uses channel points with finesse to bring some A-Team action to a War Thunder stream.

- Wrong Moment to Reload ✶
-
The AI in Arma Reforger is getting better and the new Arland map with somewhat randomized mission locations and 1–6 player PvE Coop looks good, too.
- Tiny Player Music Player for Mac ✶
-
I’ve been looking for a music player to play local MP3 files on a Mac and Tiny Player is the best one I have found so far, especially as it doesn’t take many system resources to run (~1.6% of CPU in Activity Monitor while playing).

- Melee Outside Gigamart Leaves Several Dead ✶
-
We are not sure what new product the zombies had been queueing all night for, but the unruly crowd was clearly upset and getting aggressive, so mpineyJR and I had to fight back. Note to management: Inform us of any new product launches that may cause issues with security.

- Driving a Shitty Technical to Save The Team ✶
-
Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode is pretty good. It needs a PvE-only mode with 4 to 6 player slots to explore with more friends.
- Armored Car Chaos in Watch Dogs: Legion ✶
-
Stealth? How about a hulking, heavy armored car with sirens.
- Truck vs Tank Arma 3 Physics Quirk ✶
-
Demonstrated on stream by Futura_Light.
- Silver Bullet Editor ✶
-
An open source extensible knowledge management note-taking application that uses plain text files in Markdown format and supports wiki-style page linking.
I will try it and see. If it works well and I can find a way to easily sync notes between computers this may be a long-term replacement for Simplenote and nValt.
- Because Parody Mimics “The Real Thing,” It Has The Unique Capacity To Critique The Real Thing ✶

From The Onion’s Amicus Brief defending parody (PDF):
The point of all this is not that it is funny when deluded figures of authority mistake satire for the actual news — even though that can be extremely funny. Rather, it’s that the parody allows these figures to puncture their own sense of self-importance by falling for what any reasonable person would recognize as an absurd escalation of their own views. In the political context, the effect can be particularly pronounced. See Hustler Mag., Inc. v. Falwell, 485 U.S. 46, 53–55 (1988); see also Falwell v. Flynt, 805 F.2d 484, 487 (4th Cir. 1986) (Wilkinson, J., dissenting from denial of rehearing) (“Nothing is more thoroughly democratic than to have the high-and-mighty lampooned and spoofed.”).
