All grown-ups were once children… but only a few of them remember it.
—The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, via the RPS interview with Mariia Grygorovych.
The Dragon by Evgeny Schwartz has been added to my reading list, and I scribbled down these suggestions from my end in the comments:
- Bridge of Waves (“what music is and how listening to it changes the world”).
- The First and Last Freedom (“Our problem is how to be free from all conditioning. Either you say it is impossible, that no human mind can ever be free from conditioning, or you begin to experiment, to inquire, to discover. … Now I say it is definitely possible for the mind to be free from all conditioning – not that you should accept my authority. If you accept it on authority, you will never discover, … and that will have no significance. … [I]f you are to find the truth of it for yourself, you must experiment with it and follow it swiftly.”)
- The Dispossessed (“It was a revelation, a liberation. Physicists, mathematicians, astronomers, logicians, biologists, all were here at the University, and they came to him or he went to them, and they talked, and new worlds were born of their talking. It is of the nature of idea to be communicated: written, spoken, done. The idea is like grass. It craves light, likes crowds, thrives on crossbreeding, grows better for being stepped on.“)
